Business Background:

History of manufacturing television audience meters in Finland started late 1980's. Development work was made for AC Nielsen and the successful result was called Eurometer. The Eurometer has been used in 18 different countries to monitor TV viewing.

The DA-Design role on the TV audience measurement business is developing and manufacturing the TV audience meters and data colleting systems. These meters are installed to each TV set in the households. The meter registers all TV viewing around the clock; who is viewing and which program in second basis. The collected data is transferred to the data servers and forwarded to companies which are actually handling the panel data (e.g. Finnpanel in Finland). The gathered information is used to produce viewing ratings for each program.

With Frame Grabber technology it became possible to measure digital TV broadcasting signal since their release on 2004. Frame Grabber technology has proven its success and functionality in extreme conditions after analogue switch off in Finland, on terrestrial broadcasting 1.9.2007 and on cable distribution 1.3.2008.
